Helen Rita Cannon Pawlowicz

It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Pawlowicz of New Castle, DE announces her passing. Surrounded by her loving family, Helen died on October 31, 2018 after a short, but courageous battle of cancer.
She was preceded in death by her parents Wallace L. Cannon Jr. and Marie (Gregg), her sister Jean Gallagher, her brother James (Spike) Cannon, and her beloved husband of 58 years, Edward.
She is survived by her three daughters, Maria (Mimi) Sinnott, husband Mike, children Timothy and Camille; Melissa (Missi) Postles, husband Mike, children Hope and Julian; and Julia (Julie) Nass, children Audrey Koch, husband Skyler, Isabel, Greg and great grandson Levon Koch.
Helen is also survived by her sisters Marie (Sis) Stansky, Catherine (Connie) DeAscanis, Ruth Cannon (sister-in-law), Christine (Chrissy) Loncki (Walt), Elaine Pupillo (Tony), and brothers Wallace Cannon III (Rosemarie), and Jerome (Jerry) Cannon (Paula).
Helen graduated from St. Peter’s High School in 1953. A few years later she started as a legal secretary for the Federal Judiciary System from which she retired after more than 17 years. Helen’s interests included traveling with her husband and children, playing pinochle and bocce with friends at the St. Anthony’s Club in New Castle, and never missing an opportunity to vacation in Dewey Beach. She would start each day by doing the crossword puzzle and as an avid tennis fan she spent many hours watching tennis and sharing her love of the game with her grandchildren. Honey was an exceptional grandmother who was always ready to help out with her grandchildren’s care when they were younger. She was always there to help with homework and to listen to their tales of the day. She will be dearly missed by them.
“Honey’s ability to love all of us grandchildren unconditionally, no matter how different we are from each other, always prevailed. Her good sense of humor and sheer coolness gave us all a reason to enjoy many hours of fun spent in her company.”
